Dynafit Radical Binding Series Requires Technical Upgrade

For all those who’ve chosen the new Dynafit Radical series as their binders of choice, Dynafit has announced that a small, non-critical upgrade is available. The affected bindings include the Radical ST, Radical FT, Radical Speed, and Radical Rental. Before you spill your coffee all over yourself condemning your decision to use the new Dynafits, realize that the key words were ‘non-critical,’ not, ‘requires technical upgrade.’

During testing, (conducted AFTER they released these bindings to the public? – strange time to test..) Dynafit realized that the pin that holds the back jaws in place while in ascent mode is a bit weak. The upgrade is not due to any sort of critical binding weakness, so you can still use your bindings with or without the tech upgrade. The entire fix simply involves replacing the pin with one of a better standard.

The entirety of the issue is that some binding casing damage may occur if the pin breaks. Dynafit assures us that even should this happen out in the field, the bindings will still be 100% operational, if scratched and slightly damaged. The pin failure won’t affect the binding DIN release capabilities. Further, Dynafit claims that the pins have only a .003% probability of breakage. 3 in a 1,000. Why be that person? If you’ve bought the Radical ST, Radical FT, Radical Speed, or Radical Rental, go get ‘em upgraded.

Contact your retailer or Dynafit to have your bindings inspected and new pins installed. Pins will be available at retailers beginning in about ten days – starting during the first week of 2012.
